To discover the “mantovano” territory

Three lakes surround Mantova. Lago Superiore (Upper Lake), Lago di Mezzo (Mid Lake) and Lago Inferiore (Lower Lake). They are created by Mincio's water, a Garda Lake's bayou, which once turned into a wetland and eventually, eight centuries ago, were governed with the building of a big dam upstream. Until 1700 the lakes were four, and Mantova used to be an island. After Lago Paiolo drainage, it became a peninsula. Still, it remains a city with great water presence, and lay it open with lights, sky colors, and often in the nature of its people.

Seen from any of its three lake, which are divided by three bridges, two of which once was covered, the city skyline with towers, churches and bell towers, seems to crop out from the waters. This water city profile, combined with ambient context in which is inserted, is particularly valuable when observed from our boats. The landing points are easily reachable, with Palazzo Ducale as a scenario.
